A picture of peace in the Middle East
Faith to Faith, a group of Rochester-area Muslims, Christians, and Jews working for peace between Israelis and Palestinians, will show the documentary film, "Shape of the Future" on Sunday, November 23, at Third Presbyterian Church, 4 Meigs Street (at East Avenue), at 2 p.m. The film examines what a lasting Israeli-Palestinian settlement might look like.
Amy Goodman speaks
Journalist Amy Goodman, host of Democracy Now!, will speak about her arrest at the Republican National Convention, the financial crisis, and the war in Iraq on Friday, November 21, at the Smith Opera House, 82 Seneca Street, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets: $15 at www.thesmith.org or (315) 781-5483.
Prayer vigil
Pax Christi will hold a prayer vigil commemorating the Jesuit martyrs of El Salvador and to show solidarity with SOA Watch 2008 on Sunday, November 23, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 287 Flower City Parkway, from 2 to 3 p.m.
Racial justice workshop
Metro Justice will hold a racial justice workshop on Saturday, November 22, at 167 Flanders Street, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Lunch is provided. Seating is limited. Reservations: 325-2560.
Survivors talk
The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention will hold National Survivors of Suicide Day on Saturday, November 22. The day is a nationwide effort to allow people who have lost someone to suicide to share their stories and talk to other survivors by Internet and satellite at 130 locations. Home energy help
Climate Change Central will hold a discussion with Lee Loomis, Energy Smart communities coordinator for the Finger Lakes Region, about making your home energy- efficient, reducing your carbon footprint on Saturday, November 22, at 545 Park Avenue, from 10 a.m. to noon.
Auburn Trail news
At 6:30 p.m. on Monday, November 24, the town of Victor's Parks and Recreation Department will make a presentation to the town board about the Auburn Trail project. The meeting will be held at the temporary Town Hall, 1290 Blossom Drive.
