When Royal Trux founding members Neil Hagerty and Jennifer Herrema split up - they were boyfriend/girlfriend for years - two new bands were born. One was Hagerty's "The Howling Hex," and the other was Herrema's RTX. Neither is too far removed from the spirit of the original Royal Trux. The most recent RTX release, the band's third, is grungy and gritty, to say the least, and includes a snarly cover of The Barbarians' "Are You a Boy or Are You a Girl." Though it's got "live" in the title, it's not a live release. It does, however, have the energy, thrust, and punch of a live show. Even on first listen, it'll rile you up, and make you want to go out and release some inner demons.
