SPORTS: World Beer Pong Tour (8/21)

By Dale Evans on August 20, 2008

In drinking games, it's sometimes difficult to tell the winners from the losers. In fact, it seems many times the winners are the losers, and visa versa. If losing means getting to drink more, and winning means not... You be the judge.

Out of frat basements comes beer pong. The World Beer Pong Tour claims it has been organizing beer pong tournaments since 2006. That's about the time it took to take a fun idea and capitalize on it, which confuses the issue of "who's the winner" even more. The promoters? The host bar? I digress...

On Thursday, August 21, Two89 (289 Alexander St.) will play host bar to a beer pong tournament. First place team wins $1000. You've got to be 21 to enter, but "drinking is 100 percent optional," according to the rules. I don't get it. Isn't a major point of the game to get the other team so drunk they can't play well?

Reserve a spot by going to worldpongtour.com (registration costs $25). In return, you get a t-shirt, playing cups, and game beer.
