Maybe you have this memory, too: a family snowshoe outing to an idyllic snow-covered park turns nightmarish when one of your siblings protests, whines, and lags behind. But forget them; the rest of us appreciate the invigorating air, the gentle snowfall, and the cup of hot chocolate waiting by the fire at the end of the walk.
Snowshoeing is fun and easy. If you can successfully put one foot in front of the other, you can do it. It's also practical, letting you move over the snow that otherwise would have sucked the boots off your feet long ago.
Get into snowshoeing early at Eastern Mountain Sports (3329 Monroe Avenue), where a handful of free presentations will tell you where to go, what to wear, and how to pick the right shoes. The event happens on Tuesday, November 18, 7-8:30 p.m. Call 383-1140 for more information.
