The last time Andrew van Oeyen played in Rochester, the mop-headed pianist looked barely old enough to vote. Two years later, he's back, shorn and hunkier than ever, with a file full of critical praise for his "ruminative assurance...and technical brilliance." This week he'll tackle Lizst's fiendishly complicated Totentanz for Piano and Orchestra, a dance of death flashing light and dark. After the fireworks, the RPO will play Bartok's exotic gem, the Concerto for Orchestra, which sheds light on every section.
