"Project Runway": The funniest show on TV

I've finally figured out the key to enjoying this season of Project Runway: stop looking at it as a reality competition, and start seeing it as a sitcom. Because half the shit that went down that runway last night was HILARIOUS. It hurts my heart to think that Blayne, the 23-year-old tanning addict who has never heard of The Beatles, actually exists in real life. But if I think of him as a fictional, wacky next-door-neighbor, complete with his own cliched catch phrases ("Holla at your boy!" "-licious!") I can deal with him, like Jack on "Will & Grace." Same

"...You Can Dance": YAAAAAAAAAY!

Going into last night's finale, I had come to grips with the fact that Twitch would win. My friends and I had even ordered a decadent dinner -- orange chicken from Cheesecake Factory (their idea, not mine) -- to soften the blow. My official position was "Anyone but Twitch," although I was especially rooting for Joshua specifically. He had been outstanding all season long, and I can't think of a single number that he didn't perform beautifully. And so: YAAAAAAAAY! Joshua won!In a surprise move, the top guy AND top girl got a prize, and Katee walked away with $50,000

"Top Model": The Cycle 11 girls revealed!

Finally! I've been waiting for this day for WEEKS. It's like my own personal Christmas, except better. Because instead of crappy gifts from my ever-so-thoughtful family (a tire pressure gauge...how festive), Auntie Tyra always gives me exactly what I want: fresh bitches. As usual, the CW is drumming up interest in the upcoming season of "America's Next Top Model" -- its 11th! -- by revealing the contestant photos a few weeks early. You can check them out on the CW's official site, but I'd recommend heading to one of my favorite blogs, FourFour, for its take. Blogger Rich Juzwiak is a

"Project Runway": Welcome to the jungle, Kelli...

...you're gonna die! (Props to the rock's poet laureate of the 1990s, Axl Rose.) As soon as it got down to Kelli vs. Blayne I said, "Goodbye, Kelli. Sigh." And the sad thing was, earlier in the episode I was commenting to my brother that she was looking like a good candidate for F4 (along with Kenley and Korto, who are practically a lock at this point -- unfortunately). It's the age-old story, a la Santino Rice and Wendy Pepper: they kept Blayne because he makes "good TV." Which means, he's a cartoon, and Kelli is

"Project Runway": Queens of my heart

Finally, a fun challenge: create a look for a drag queen. I thought the episode was really fun -- some great queens, especially Varla Jean Merman whose outfit by Joe won, and Hedda Lettuce. I've been clamoring for a "Next Top Drag Queen" show, and this is exactly why. (Logo is doing one with RuPaul next spring, but since it's Logo and, like, six episodes nobody will ever see it.) These gals who are guys were so goddamned funny. I was dismayed that the challenge was wasted on this bunch of designers, however, because as fun as a lot of

"Project Runway": Even more like a car wreck

I've been joking all along that Season 5 of "Project Runway" has been like a car wreck, with its rushed production, crap challenges, and terrible casting. Last night's episode fit that analogy perfectly, as the challenge was to make outfits out of materials salvaged from cars -- "Runway" sponsor Saturn cars, of course. I hated the challenge. I thought it was the most blatant example of ad cross-promotion since last year's Hershey's challenge, but at least there the range of "unconventional materials" was a lot wider. This time they were left with seat covers, seat belts, floor mats, and
